Who’s That Walking Carpet?

Hurry on over to the Kids Need to Read Charity Auction on eBay. On the block is a rare collector’s item from the vast Star Wars universe – a mint-condition “Chewbacca in Chains” poseable action figure from The Power of the Force II Collection released in 1998. The figure is 12″, furred and comes with removable restraints. The package is unopened and all the more desirable because it has been signed by the man who brought Chewbacca to life, Peter Mayhew!

After winning the part of a “big, hairy beast,” Mayhew studied the behaviors of various zoo animals to create Chewbacca’s signature movements and mannerisms. The 7’3″ Brit has been the only actor to appear as the Wookiee since the Star Wars saga began in 1977. He is truly the one and only Chewbacca!

Bidding begins immediately and opens at $45.00. Please use the following link to place your bid http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110234280754 . Bids will be accepted until March 23, 2008.

Our thanks to Toy Anxiety for donating this special item and for having Peter Mayhew sign it for us at Phoenix Cactus Comicon 2008!

The money raised from this auction will be used to purchase books for underfunded schools and libraries through Kids Need to Read, the charity project founded by author PJ Haarsma and actor Nathan Fillion.
