Just Me and My Lovebot

Kids Need to Read Charity Auction on eBay has another “Terrify’n Space Monkey” on the block, this one bearing the autograph of actress Nectar Rose. Her growing number of fans can see her in dozens of film and TV appearances, including Legally Blonde, The Hazing and the soon-to-be-released Off the Ledge. However, the lovely Nectar is best-known in the Whedonverse as Lenore, Mr. Universe’s personal “lovebot” in the movie Serenity.

Our thanks go to the amiable actress for signing our unofficial Firefly mascot. The little varmint is 15″ high, wearing a shirt with “Terrify’n Space Monkey” hand painted on the front by our talented KNTR kid, Kelly, and sporting a Kids Need to Read mini-button.

We appreciate the help of Sean Harry of Starfury USA in obtaining our celebrity signatures, and thank Marty Dwyer and Denise Gary for donating the Space Monkeys to benefit Kids Need to Read.

Bidding begins immediately and opens at $40.00. Go to http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110235050436  to place your bid. Bids will be accepted until March 23, 2008.

All proceeds from this auction go to support Kids Need to Read, the charity project founded by author PJ Haarsma and actor Nathan Fillion, in its ongoing effort to supply children’s books to schools, libraries and programs in need.
