Some Terrify’n Space Monkeys got loose…and you’ll find them here at the 17th Kids Need to Read Charity Auction! In a nod to “The Train Job” episode of Firefly, our fabulously ingenious Ninjas, Martha Dwyer and Denise Gary, have fashioned these unique “space monkeys” for the Kids Need to Read charity auctions and for Firefly fans everywhere! The monkeys are brown, fuzzy, and adorable. Each is 15” high, wearing a shirt with “Terrify’n Space Monkey” hand painted on the front. They proudly wear a Kids Need to Read mini-button on their shirts.
Not only are the monkeys a cute and clever creation, each one’s shirt is signed by a cast member of Firefly or Serenity! This week’s prize is signed by none other than Adam Baldwin – our favorite “bad guy,” Jayne Cobb! This talented actor is currently being seen on the new hit series Chuck.
Kids Need to Read is enormously grateful to Adam Baldwin for so cheerfully and graciously signing his space monkey shirt, to Sean Harry of Starfury USA for assisting our organization in acquiring signatures, and to Martha and Denise for donating the space monkeys to benefit Kids Need to Read.
This auction marks the start of our SECOND weekly auction. Every Wednesday, a new plush “space monkey” will be put up for bid until we run out of the little critters! Each plush monkey is adorable and collectable!
Bidding begins immediately and opens at $40.00. Bids will be accepted until Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 10pm ET/ 9pm CT/ 7pm PT.

The winner will be notified by PM and will have 5 days to donate the high bid directly to the Kids Need to Read website at http://kidsneedtoread.org (or you can click on “KIDSNEEDTOREAD.ORG HOME” at the top of this page. Click on “Donate Now” then click on “Make a Donation”). Your autographed Terrify’n Space Monkey will be mailed to you as soon as your donation is received.
The money raised from this auction will be used to purchase books for schools and libraries through Kids Need to Read, the charity project founded by author PJ Haarsma and actor Nathan Fillion.
