KNTR Build-a-Book Project for Kids
11 AM, 1 PM and 3 PM, Kids Need to Read Pavilion
Author/illustrator Steven Riley will lead daily creative sessions for children of all ages in the Kids Need to Read pavilion. Children will build a book page by page throughout the convention and can watch the book progress on the pavilion’s Reading Wall. After signing a reading pledge, all “Build-a-Book” participants will receive a Kids Need to Read goodie backpack sponsored by Bookmans and filled with a new, hardcover book, magazines, & other goodies.

Star Wars Photo Booth benefiting KNTR
12 Noon – 3 PM, Star Wars Neighborhood, Exhibitor Hall
Have your photo taken with Star Wars costumed characters for a small donation to KNTR.

Friday

Geeks Giving Back Panel sponsored by Arizona Browncoats
3 PM – 4 PM, Room 129A
Join representatives from several fan groups, including Kids Need to Read Executive Director Denise Gary, Arizona Browncoats, Austin Browncoats, Arizona Ghostbusters, and The Dune Sea Garrison 501st Legion to learn how they give back to the community and how you can be involved.

Texas Hold ‘Em Charity Poker Tournament benefiting KNTR
8 PM – 12 PM, Hyatt Ellis

No Limit Hold ‘Em Celebrity Charity Tournament for Kids Need to Read. $10 Donation. Unlimited chip replenish during first hour for additional donation. Optional add on after first hour. Cash only. Play with BigChrisArt, Zenescope, & Big Dog Ink!

Saturday & Sunday

Justice League Arizona “Arkham Escape” interactive game benefiting KNTR
2 PM – 3 PM, Justice League Arizona/Arizona Avengers booth
“Escaped Arkham Asylum inmates” (identified by special badges) will be hunted down by Gotham City heroes and villains, escorted back to the Arkham Cell, and have their mug shots taken with their captors. Play yourself or rat out your friends for a $5 donation.

Charity Art Auction benefiting KNTR
6 PM – 8 PM, Room 127A

The Phoenix Comicon Charity Art Auction features unique one-of-a-kind creations by many guest artists. Pieces will include single artist and multi-artist jam pieces.

Kids Need to Read Geek Prom sponsored by Bookmans & benefiting KNTR
8 PM – Midnight, Hyatt Regency Ballroom

Don’t miss the third annual Kids Need to Read Geek Prom, sponsored by Bookmans Entertainment Exchange and made possible by Phoenix Comicon. This event is our largest annual fundraiser and sold out the past two years. Expect Geektastic music and dancing, tons of prizes, special guests, a live Geek auction, space-themed decorations and photo sets, a Geek-o-tron, Fashion Geektacular, and crowning of the 2012 KNTR Geek Monarchs.
