Would you like to have a little extra fun while wandering around the Exhibitor Hall at Phoenix Comicon?  If so, join in the Browncoat Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, May 29th! Benefiting Kids Need to Read, the game will be hosted by the Arizona Browncoats, Browncoats: Redemption, and Bookmans Entertainment Exchange.  You will be on the lookout for 27 of our accomplices marked with special ribbons.  Gather their secret letters and then unscramble them to reveal a hidden “Verse” phrase.  The first person to return to the Kids Need to Read booth with a completed game card and the decoded phrase will win a gift basket full of great Browncoat treasures from Kids Need to Read, Browncoats: Redemption, and Bookmans, including an Alliance bill used on the set of Serenity and signed by Nathan Fillion.

Participants can pick up a game card for a $5.00 donation (or a new book from the Kids Need to Read book list) at the Kids Need to Read booth beginning Friday afternoon.   The game itself will commence with the start of convention activity on Saturday and end when someone wins or with the close of the Kids Need to Read Geek Prom that evening.  If you get stuck, clues will be available at the Kids Need to Read booth in exchange for additional $2 donations.

Details: Saturday, May 29th, Exhibitor Hall, 10:00 AM until phrase is decoded or winner is drawn at the Kids Need to Read Geek Prom.  Game cards will be available at the KNTR tables on Friday afternoon and all day Saturday for a $5.00 donation.

Tis the Season

Once Upon a Time… It was a dark and stormy night… This is the tale that was told to me…: Throughout history, winter has been a season rich in the tradition of storytelling, serving as a captivating blend of entertainment and education for individuals of all ages. This enduring legacy is exemplified in Beowulf, one of the oldest recorded stories, where the narrative opens with a compelling command, “Listen! we have heard of the might of the kings,”. No matter the opening line, the timeless power and importance of story and literacy is in its ability to connect generations and communities through the ages.
