Kids Need to Read got a nice boost when co-founders PJ Haarsma and Nathan Fillion spent some time at San Diego Comic Con this year.  The author and actor dropped by the Browncoat Meeting on Sunday, July 26, surprising the unsuspecting audience.  Nathan led an impromptu question and answer session.  He spoke a little about KNTR and then introduced PJ.

PJ told a heart-rending tale of a child hoping to exchange her birthday present for one of his books.  The story brought at least one person in the audience to tears.

More great photos of the Browncoat Meeting can be found on The One True b!X’s Flickr site.

After the Browncoat Meeting, PJ and Nathan signed special limited edition Serenity: Better Days #1 comics donated by the California Browncoats to benefit KNTR.  (You can purchase signed and unsigned copies of the special limited edition Serenity: Better Days #1 comics at the KNTR eBay store.)

Kids Need to Read thanks PJ and Nathan for their commitment to the foundation, as well as the California Browncoats for welcoming our founders at the convention.
