Three Cheers for Variety!

They say that variety is the spice of life.  If that’s true, then the fine folks who put on Can’t Stop the Serenity, an annual charity screening of the movie Serenity that predominately benefits Equality Now (a woman’s rights organization) must be some of the liveliest people around.

That’s because Can’t Stop the Serenity doesn’t solely benefit Equality Now.  Some local CSTS event organizers choose to donate a portion of their proceeds to other nonprofit organizations.  Up to twenty-five percent of the total monies raised by an event may be donated to charities of the group’s choosing.  Many groups donate to local charities or to other national and international charities that have special meaning to Serenity fans (also known as Browncoats).
The Kids Need to Read Foundation is fortunate enough to be the beneficiary of a portion of the proceeds from several CSTS events this year.  Specifically, Can’t Stop the Serenity events in Arlington (Virginia), Austin (Texas), Raleigh (North Carolina), San Antonio (Texas), and LaVergne (Tennessee) have all pledged to support KNTR with donations.

Our most sincere thanks go out to the organizers of these events.  Hats off to NoVa Browncoats, Austin Browncoats, North Carolina Browncoats, Tennessee Valley Browncoats, Whedonites United and Prater Productions for their support!
