We have books! Not all of the books, but lots of books! The Little Flame has nearly completed its long journey and though the bulk of the books are scheduled to arrive one day after Phoenix Comicon (Can you believe that?), we will have a limited amount of eighty copies available for folks to purchase at the convention. Illustrator Steven Riley and I will be there to sign copies of the book and we will have handmade Little Flame plushes for sale, as well. We will also have Little Flame buttons, bookmarks and postcards. Remember, ALL author royalties benefit Kids Need to Read, as well as net proceeds of the Little Flame plushes. We thank seamstress extraordinaire Carly Woolley for making the adorable Little Flame critters for Kids Need to Read!

While at Phoenix Comicon, Steven and I will sign the bookmarks and postcards for all the generous Indiegogo supporters who made this project happen. We will sign the books as soon as they have been delivered the day after the convention, and Steven will sign the art prints. Then we will work on getting all of the delightful treasures sent out right away! Shortly afterward, we will make The Little Flame available in the Kids Need to Read eBay store and on Amazon for anyone to purchase.

Kids Need to Read has created a Little Flame web page, which includes thanks to those of you who so kindly contributed to this labor of love. We cannot wait to provide copies of the book to the many disadvantaged children who will benefit from your generosity! The Little Flame has been such an exciting and merry project for all of us at Kids Need to Read and for Steven Riley. We are eternally grateful to the many warmhearted supporters who embraced this bright little creature and her journey to become a shining beacon of peace. Thank you all for believing in this project and the cause of childhood literacy.

Be a Little Flame!

Tis the Season

Once Upon a Time… It was a dark and stormy night… This is the tale that was told to me…: Throughout history, winter has been a season rich in the tradition of storytelling, serving as a captivating blend of entertainment and education for individuals of all ages. This enduring legacy is exemplified in Beowulf, one of the oldest recorded stories, where the narrative opens with a compelling command, “Listen! we have heard of the might of the kings,”. No matter the opening line, the timeless power and importance of story and literacy is in its ability to connect generations and communities through the ages.
