Tenth Kids Need to Read Charity Auction

The Ninjas of NathanNation invite you to participate in our Tenth Kids Need to Read Charity Auction. To celebrate our auctions’ new home at the Kids Need to Read Community blog, we are offering a very special item- a unique signed Serenity party invitation. This is author PJ Haarsma’s personal invitation to sit at Nathan Fillion’s table at the party following the World Premiere of Serenity in 2005. It has been signed especially for Kids Need to Read by the ever-kind Nathan Fillion, making it all the more sentimental. Adding to the awesomeness of this unique Serenity collectible is the word “FILLION” splashed boldly across the bottom.

Place your bid in the comments section of this blog. Only bids placed in this auction blog’s comments will be considered. Bidding begins immediately and opens at $25.00. The auction ends on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 10:00 PM ET / 9:00 PM CT / 7:00 PM PT. The winner will be notified by PM. The winner will have five days to donate their high bid directly to the Kids Need to Read website at http://www.kidsneedtoread.org (or click on “KIDSNEEDTOREAD.ORG HOME” at the top of this page). Click on “Donate Now,” then click on “Make a Donation.” Your signed Serenity party invitation will be mailed as soon as your donation is received.

Our thanks go to PJ Haarsma for generously donating this special gift to benefit Kids Need to Read and Nathan Fillion for kindly signing it. This auction is being conducted by the Ninjas of NathanNation; however, funds are sent directly to Kids Need to Read by the winner. 100% of the money raised will be used to buy books for children. Be sure to watch for many more auctions in the upcoming weeks. We have many exciting items being donated for this worthy cause. If you have an item you would like to donate for auction, please drop us a message at this site. You will be responsible for shipping charges.

Let the bidding begin!

Tis the Season

Once Upon a Time… It was a dark and stormy night… This is the tale that was told to me…: Throughout history, winter has been a season rich in the tradition of storytelling, serving as a captivating blend of entertainment and education for individuals of all ages. This enduring legacy is exemplified in Beowulf, one of the oldest recorded stories, where the narrative opens with a compelling command, “Listen! we have heard of the might of the kings,”. No matter the opening line, the timeless power and importance of story and literacy is in its ability to connect generations and communities through the ages.
