Target, iTunes, and eBay….OH MY!

Written by Debbie Brown

Kids Need to Read has a great way for you to support us this holiday season and all year long! We know that a lot of people (including ourselves) do most of their holiday shopping online. Kids Need to Read is one of the charities listed on iFundDrive.com, a website that allows you to purchase items from retailers with a portion of each sale going to the charity of your choice. It’s free, simple to register, and they won’t put you on any mailing list or anything like that. We have many supporters that use the site and LOVE it!

Here is a partial list of the participating online retailers and the percentages they give to the designated charity:

Apple iTunes 3%
Barnes & Noble 3%
eBay (up to) 14%
Kohl’s 2.5%
Target 4%
Walmart 3%
Kmart 1%
LEGO 2%
Skype 12.5%

All you have to do is start your purchase using your iFundDrive account, click on the retailer you want to use, and start shopping. If you are already registered with the retailer, just sign into your account before shopping. You can even use any of the retailer’s special discount offers, coupons, or gift cards for your purchase as long as you start at iFundDrive first!

You can get your feet wet by using iFundDrive.com to support Kids Need to Read for the holidays and make it a habit throughout the year! They have travel sites (Hotwire, Orbitz, Priceline, Hotels.com), office supplies (OfficeMax, Vista Print), magazines (Time/Life), home improvement (Blinds.com, Lumber Liquidators), and many, many more retailers. It’s a win-win for everyone!

You can access iFundDrive by going to the Kids Need to Read website and clicking on the “Support our FundDrive” button. You can also use this link:

So get your shopping done, travel across the world (wide web, that is!), and help give books to children who desperately need them. Let the shopping begin!

Tis the Season

Once Upon a Time… It was a dark and stormy night… This is the tale that was told to me…: Throughout history, winter has been a season rich in the tradition of storytelling, serving as a captivating blend of entertainment and education for individuals of all ages. This enduring legacy is exemplified in Beowulf, one of the oldest recorded stories, where the narrative opens with a compelling command, “Listen! we have heard of the might of the kings,”. No matter the opening line, the timeless power and importance of story and literacy is in its ability to connect generations and communities through the ages.
