Swashbuckling and Books at This Weekend’s Arizona Renaissance Festival!

Ahoy me hearties! This weekend join Kids Need to Read at Arizona Renaissance Festival on Saturday, February 28th and Sunday, February 29th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM for Pirate Invasion Weekend. We invite you to bring a new children’s book and in exchange we will give you a free child’s (ages 5-12) admission ticket with paid adult admission. This offer is valid only this weekend! Just swagger on up to the Kids Need to Read booth at the entrance to drop off your booty! We will have free Highlights and Highlights High Five magazines for all the youngest pirates.

Practice your arrrggghhh!! The Child Pirate Costume Contest (5-12) will be hosted on Saturday, February 28th, at 2:00 PM in the Royal Pavilion. Entrants will be judged on Costume, “ARRG!” and Swagger, and be asked to answer the following question: What is your pirate name and what makes you the best pirate captain? Presented by Kids Need to Read and 101.5. You can visit 101.5 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the shire.

The Adult Pirate Costume Contest (13+) will be hosted on Sunday, March 1st, at 2:00 PM in the Royal Pavilion. Same rules apply and Kids Need to Read is joined by KNIX 102.5. You can join Barrel Boy of KNIX at the 5:00 PM Joust!

The Arizona Renaissance Festival is a medieval amusement park, a 13-stage theater, a 30-acre circus, an arts and crafts fair, a jousting tournament and a feast — all rolled into one non-stop, day-long family adventure!
