Author Shannon Messenger, with the assistance of Changing Hands Bookstore and Simon & Schuster Publishing, arranged a book drive to benefit Kids Need to Read at her Keeper of the Lost Cities book launch. The drive, which took place at Changing Hands, resulted in 150 copies of Keeper of the Lost Cities for Kids Need to Read!

I had the good fortune to attend the event, along with Debbie Brown.

Faith Hochhalter—herself a “keeper” of sorts, as she keeps KNTR’s book list in order—introduced Shannon to the party attendees.

Shannon was charming, sharing tales of her writing exploits for our amusement.

Attendees were treated to a reading from Keeper of the Lost Cities.

A signing followed Shannon’s presentation.

All of us at Kids Need to Read extend our sincere thanks to Shannon Messenger, Changing Hands Bookstore, and Simon & Schuster Publishing for this wonderful surprise that resulted in so many copies of Shannon’s terrific book for the children we serve! Smiles all ‘round and happy reading!
