Raise Up Our Winning Banner!

The sequestered Master Ninja judges have come out of seclusion and have proclaimed a winner of the KNTR Event Banner Contest.  The honor is bestowed upon Lindsay Coderre for her creative reflection of our mission and tagline, “Inspiring Imagination”.

The judges were impressed with the magical treatment of our logo and the use of our bright website colors.  Most thrilling of all was the ingenious incorporation of actual children’s drawings into the design.  Coderre told KNTR that she enlisted the artistic renderings of some of her dance students “to really capture the magic of a child’s imagination.”  Regarding the lively fairy responsible for creating the magic in the design, Coderre shared this with KNTR:

The little girl who drew the fairy was actually drawing herself.  See, every ballet class we do ‘princess walks’ across the room to work on our demi-pointe and she always says that she’s a fairy, not a princess.  So that drawing is super special to me….  She always says that she wears a green ‘petal’ dress when she’s a fairy.

We adore this special fairy in her green petal dress and name her “If”, for Imagination Fairy.  Her name conveys the hope literacy will bring to all of the kids we serve, because “if” they can read well, there is nothing they cannot do.

We are so grateful for all of the imaginative works of art that were sent to KNTR to aid us in spreading the word about our mission.  We felt all of the entries were worthy and would like to honor each artist by creating KNTR t-shirts from one of each contestants’ entries.  We will contact each of you with our design choices and specifications.  Thank you so much for answering our call for talent and for being an enthusiastic part of Kids Need to Read!

Tis the Season

Once Upon a Time… It was a dark and stormy night… This is the tale that was told to me…: Throughout history, winter has been a season rich in the tradition of storytelling, serving as a captivating blend of entertainment and education for individuals of all ages. This enduring legacy is exemplified in Beowulf, one of the oldest recorded stories, where the narrative opens with a compelling command, “Listen! we have heard of the might of the kings,”. No matter the opening line, the timeless power and importance of story and literacy is in its ability to connect generations and communities through the ages.
