Immediately upon walking into the Quicken Loans office in Scottsdale, Arizona, one is struck by an overwhelming feeling of fun! The bright, multicolored walls slathered with encouraging slogans are only upstaged by the cheerfulness of the staff. Kids Need to Read was the fortunate recipient of the company’s enthusiasm and regular contributions to the community through Casual Friday fundraisers. The fundraiser, petitioned by KNTR board member Gary Mlodzik, brought in a spectacular $1,010 for Kids Need to Read! However, Quicken Loans decided to add in an extra element this time around—a book drive. The drive resulted in 1,500 children’s books brought in by participating employees! What an exceptional effort by the kind staff of the Scottsdale location!
We hope everyone at Quicken Loans enjoys wearing their casual duds on behalf of Kids Need to Read. We are exceedingly grateful!
Forty-five percent of our nation’s children live in neighborhoods that lack public libraries and stores that sell books, or in homes where books are an unaffordable or unfamiliar luxury. — Randi Weingarten, American Educator, Spring 2015
Please help us provide for these children. If you work at or know of a company that conducts Casual Friday fundraisers, please think of Kids Need to Read as a beneficiary. We will allocate the funds raised toward beleaguered schools and libraries wherever the company is located.
