HIKRZ 1

The holidays are here, which means it is time for much joy and kindness!  But as is always said, joy and kindness should be celebrated year ‘round, so that is what we do at Kids Need to Read.  We put on our joy and work to bring kindness to kids every day.  Sound corny?  Probably, but it is a reality for those of us dedicated to KNTR.  Our entire year is a holiday devoted to transforming the lives of children and young adults.

As we work to send out thousands of inspiring books to various impoverished schools, libraries, drop out recovery programs, juvenile offender camps, urban afterschool programs, and special education classes, our thoughts turn to those of you who make our year-round joy possible.  We cannot express enough gratitude for your voices of support, as well as your gifts of funds, books, and assistance.  Our days are truly brightened by the support you provide.

Please remember Kids Need to Read during your year-end giving and on into 2011.  KNTR’s assistance is in high demand, especially because we help older kids who have fallen through the cracks of our educational system.  We have a long waiting list of programs eager to receive our books and use them to change the lives of the children they are devoted to assisting.  In addition, we have several community programs under development for 2011.  These programs encourage literacy, leadership, respect for our environment, and help for children impeded by Asperger’s syndrome.  Every year, the impact of our foundation grows.  We need help to increase our programs, so that we can make a difference for more children.  We hope we can continue to count on your support in the coming year.

Put on your joy with KNTR and be a part of our year-long holiday celebrating childhood literacy!

Tis the Season

Once Upon a Time… It was a dark and stormy night… This is the tale that was told to me…: Throughout history, winter has been a season rich in the tradition of storytelling, serving as a captivating blend of entertainment and education for individuals of all ages. This enduring legacy is exemplified in Beowulf, one of the oldest recorded stories, where the narrative opens with a compelling command, “Listen! we have heard of the might of the kings,”. No matter the opening line, the timeless power and importance of story and literacy is in its ability to connect generations and communities through the ages.
