With assistance from author PJ Haarsma (who is apparently some sort of Octopod), actor Nathan Fillion makes a gallant attempt to stump for KNTR in this “splasher” flick and . . . well . . . woe to his brand new shoes! Both gentlemen are co-founders and advisory council members of Kids Need to Read.
The video originally appeared during the Kids Need to Read panel at the Texas Library Association 2012 Conference this past May in Houston, Texas. It had a special ending thanking the TxLA audience members. Naturally, there were appeals for an encore. The current video has a new ending made especially for all Kids Need to Read supporters.
The panel at TxLA featured KNTR board member Dr. Teri Lesesne, author and KNTR founder PJ Haarsma, KNTR executive director and co-founder Denise Gary, and KNTR chairman Dr. James Blasingame. Panelists discussed Kids Need to Read’s vision, the importance of providing books to all readers, how to choose books for reluctant readers, using technology to encourage reading, and KNTR’s Reading Revolution program, produced in partnership with Arizona State University and ASU Preparatory Academy. The panel was well-received and we thank Renee Dyer, Elise Walker, Patricia Smith, Ted Wanner and everyone at Texas Library Association for hosting our organization with such great southern hospitality!
We are told the shoes Nathan wore in the video will be signed and given to KNTR for auction in our eBay store. I just want to know why they didn’t share the cake and pie! Stay tuned for upcoming footwear!
