Our excitement is mounting as our dedicated team is preparing for the fall/winter season. We are expanding our program to ensure that our book contributions will impact children as much as possible. To encourage educators to use our books to inspire literacy, creativity, and social responsibility, a list of beneficial activities will be provided with our books, along with year-round guidance. Recipients will be asked to conduct at least one of the activities with their students before receiving a second shipment of books from our foundation.
We hope to provide books to many of the programs that have been on our waiting list, some since last fall. KNTR is unique in that it serves children of all ages in need of literacy intervention, not just the very young. Some of the programs waiting to be served this fall are an urban after school program for impoverished children in California, a mental health facility wishing to use books to assist in healing children and adolescents who are experiencing psychiatric emergencies in Pennsylvania, a juvenile detention camp for teens in California, as well as many underserved schools in Arizona and other parts of the country. In addition to inspiring their imaginations, our carefully selected books will help empower these children with self-respect, positive values, and critical thinking skills.
Please consider sending a donation to Kids Need to Read to support our program at this crucial time of year. Or check out our eBay auctions beginning in September. We have some great collectibles to put up on the block to help raise funds for our program. We thank you on behalf of all of the kids who will benefit when they open the cover of every Kids Need to Read book.
