Homicide, mystery, and a clever author! No, I am not talking about KNTR co-founder Nathan Fillion’s TV show Castle. I am speaking of great books and great support for Kids Need to Read! Barnes & Noble – Oceanside is putting on another bookfair for KNTR, thanks to the generosity of New York Times best-selling author Kate Carlisle. And to make it even more exciting, KNTR supporters can order books from Barnes & Noble online to participate in the bookfair, even if you live near the Atlantic Ocean, rather than the Pacific.
Kate’s newest book is If Books Could Kill, one of two books in The Bibliophile Mystery Series. The first book in the series, Homicide in Hardcover, is a New York Times best seller. From Kate Carlisle’s biography:
A lifelong love of old books and an appreciation of the art of bookbinding led Kate to create the Bibliophile Mysteries, featuring rare book expert Brooklyn Wainwright, whose bookbinding and restoration skills invariably uncover old secrets, treachery, and murder.
Sounds irresistible! Kate will be at the Oceanside, California Barnes & Noble to sign her books on Saturday, May 8th, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. A percentage of the net sale of your total book purchases will be contributed to Kids Need to Read, but you will need to present this voucher before your purchase.
Now, if you live too far away from Oceanside to visit with Kate, you may use the voucher at your own community Barnes & Noble between May 7th and May 12th, 2010. If that is not an option, you can still help KNTR by purchasing all manner of books online at bn.com/bookfairs from 05/07/10 to 05/12/10 and entering Bookfair ID 10196376 at checkout.
The last bookfair Barnes & Noble presented for Kids Need to Read resulted in nearly $2,000 being contributed to our foundation, all of which was used to purchase an even higher value of books for several literacy programs. So whatever super-fantastic books you may have been thinking about purchasing lately, May 7-12 would be a great time to get them! What could be more enjoyable than buying books and knowing that part of the purchase price will be used to buy more books – books for kids!
Thank you so much, Kate Carlisle, for thinking of Kids Need to Read! And we thank our friends at Barnes & Noble – Oceanside, as well.
I say it was done in the library with the almanac by Captain Tightpants. . . .
