Here’s Your License to Drive!

Let Kids Need to Read put you in the driver’s seat!  Here is your chance to bid on a rare piece of memorabilia from the Emmy-nominated TV show Drive.  It was one of the promotional items released by FOX prior to the show’s debut – a highly-realistic Nebraska driver’s license for the lead character Alex Tully.  The license lists all of Alex’s vital statistics and includes the hand-written phrase, “I am racing for my kidnapped wife.”

But here is the best tidbit for Firefly and Serenity fans – the photo on the ID is of Nathan Fillion dressed as Malcolm Reynolds!  Yes, you can actually see the collar of his legendary brown coat in the photo!  This license has Nathan’s signature scrawled boldly across it, making this an extra-special collectible!

Be the first off the starting line by going to http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110296581021 to place your bid!  Bids will be accepted until October 10, 2008.

Our thanks go to the KNTR officer who donated this unique item to The Kids Need to Read Foundation.  Money raised from these auctions is used to purchase books for under-funded schools and libraries, as well as for organizations that provide books to children.

We are always looking for auction items! If you have something you would like to donate to Kids Need to Read, e-mail Debbie Brown at debbie@kidsneedtoread.org .

This enduring legacy is exemplified in Beowulf, one of the oldest recorded stories, where the narrative opens with a compelling command, “Listen! we have heard of the might of the kings,”. No matter the opening line, the timeless power and importance of story and literacy is in its ability to connect generations and communities through the ages.
