Calling All Panelologists!

Hatter M Auction Package Image

Did you know that comic book and graphic novel collecting has grown so popular that it has its own name? “Panelology” is the study of comics as a medium and an art form, and has enthusiasts all over the globe. Judging by the over 125,000 fans that attend the San Diego Comic-Con each year, this is a hot collectible!

Kids Need to Read offers 2 dramatic examples of the genre from author Frank Beddor’s graphic novel and comic series, Hatter M, a spin-off from his novel, The Looking Glass Wars. The package includes the cover art for Hatter M, Issue 1 and Hatter M, Issue 3. Renowned Australian artist Ben Templesmith has signed both pieces of his lavish and expressive work. What fun would collecting be without some added swag?

To sweeten the pot, the posters are accompanied by a complete set of Cardsoldier War stickers, a Cardsoldier War postcard, Seeing Redd and Hatter M bookmarks, and a Looking Glass Wars removable tattoo. We would like to thank author Frank Beddor for donating this intriguing package.

Please use the following link to place your bids http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110227718950. Bidding starts at $25.00 and ends February 29, 2008.

All of Kids Need to Read‘s proceeds for February will go to support the Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic in Seattle, Washington. Through the Reach Out and Read © Program (ROR), the Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic can give new books to children between the ages of six months through five years at each well child check. Once a child turns six, they are no longer able to provide new books through ROR and rely solely on the generous support of individuals, companies and organizations. Kids Need to Read would like to help supply books for the clinic’s older children not served by ROR. The proceeds from this auction will help Kids Need to Read, the charity project founded by author PJ Haarsma and actor Nathan Fillion, achieve that goal.

Let the bidding begin!

Tis the Season

Once Upon a Time… It was a dark and stormy night… This is the tale that was told to me…: Throughout history, winter has been a season rich in the tradition of storytelling, serving as a captivating blend of entertainment and education for individuals of all ages. This enduring legacy is exemplified in Beowulf, one of the oldest recorded stories, where the narrative opens with a compelling command, “Listen! we have heard of the might of the kings,”. No matter the opening line, the timeless power and importance of story and literacy is in its ability to connect generations and communities through the ages.
