The 15th anniversary of Barnes & Nobel Chandler is coming up and The Page Coach is returning to the Chandler Fashion Center location to celebrate on Saturday, October 15th! The Kids Need to Read staff and volunteers will be on-site from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM collecting books, talking about our programs, and handing out free Highlights magazines to the kids. You can help us earn books through your purchases in-store and online all day long. Just mention Kids Need to Read at the register or pick up a voucher from The Page Coach Team.

How many Book Ninjas can you find? They will be wearing the blue book ninja shirts and hiding throughout the store. Once you have found them, come to The Page Coach and tell us how many you found for your Ninja button!

There are events scheduled throughout the day to spark imagination. The festivities kick off at 11:00 AM with a Pete the Cat and The Missing Cupcake story time in the kids area. There will be a cupcake decorating station in the Café for children of all ages and all cupcake sales benefit Kids Need to Read! From 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM you can meet local authors, have your books signed, and take a photo with the weavers of the tales. Not ready to call it a night? Then join us at 7:00 PM for Tabletop Gaming! Design a city before your friends and family. Construct a railroad that stretches across the United States before your competition does. Create fun family memories and new friendships by seeing which family can win the game.

Not able to attend our bookfair in the store? You can still support us by visiting bn.com/bookfairs online from 10/15/2016 to 10/20/2016 by entering Bookfair ID 11882115 at checkout. Part of your purchase will go to Kids Need to Read.

Tis the Season

Once Upon a Time… It was a dark and stormy night… This is the tale that was told to me…: Throughout history, winter has been a season rich in the tradition of storytelling, serving as a captivating blend of entertainment and education for individuals of all ages. This enduring legacy is exemplified in Beowulf, one of the oldest recorded stories, where the narrative opens with a compelling command, “Listen! we have heard of the might of the kings,”. No matter the opening line, the timeless power and importance of story and literacy is in its ability to connect generations and communities through the ages.
