Art, Sun, and BOOKS!

Kids Need to Read is always looking for new ways to spread the love of reading to children. We had the pleasure of attending Phoenix Festival of the Arts this year, and what an amazing weekend! The sun was shining and everywhere there were smiles!

It was wonderful to be among the many talented artisans and performers who were selling their wares at the festival. So much amazing talent and friendly people were there. The kettle corn and caramel apples were pretty great, too!

KNTR was featuring its beautiful art prints, Kids-N-Peace items, and wall calendars.

However, our major focus was to give books and magazines (Highlights, Cricket, Spider, and Ladybug) to the children attending the festival.

The attendees were very excited, and word spread around the festival about our reading gifts! It always puts a smile on our faces when we have children seek us out and ask for the books and magazines we are handing out.

Some even started reading the books and magazines right away—truly wonderful!

Many thanks to Highlights for Children and Carus Publishing, as well as authors Jeanne McNaney, Frank Beddor, and Terry and Wayne Baltz for their generous donations of books and magazines. There were many delighted faces and happy families.

We even had a couple of happy canine guests, too.

We are looking forward to next year’s festival, with all its wonders and excitement! We hope you can join us in celebrating the love of reading and the wonderfully talented artisans of Phoenix and beyond. See you next year!

Tis the Season

Once Upon a Time… It was a dark and stormy night… This is the tale that was told to me…: Throughout history, winter has been a season rich in the tradition of storytelling, serving as a captivating blend of entertainment and education for individuals of all ages. This enduring legacy is exemplified in Beowulf, one of the oldest recorded stories, where the narrative opens with a compelling command, “Listen! we have heard of the might of the kings,”. No matter the opening line, the timeless power and importance of story and literacy is in its ability to connect generations and communities through the ages.
