Felicia Day and Knights of the Guild Fight For Kids Need to Read

They say the early bird gets the worm, and for Kids Need to Read, that’s been proven true. At least, the early tweet caught a lot of worms. Bookworms, that is!

Kids Need to Read recently auctioned a photo featuring the cast of the internet sensation The Guild that was signed by all six cast members. When Guild star Felicia Day heard about this, she helped spread the word with her Twitter account.

Felicia has over 350,000 followers on Twitter, and while Kids Need to Read volunteers are pretty talkative about our auctions, our firepower is nowhere close to that magnitude.

Within hours of Felicia’s tweet, there were several bids on the photo, and something else was going on, too. The Kids Need to Read Terrify’n Space Monkeys started flying off the shelves and signed comics were being gobbled up. Thousands of hits accumulated almost instantly.

The power of the Day was in full force. It’s a good thing eBay is used to that kind of traffic. Felicia has been known to crash lesser sites by the mere mention of their name on her Twitter feed.

The Guild cast photo brought in a whopping $305 for Kids Need to Read, and sales of other items over the course of this auction more than doubled that. As The Guild proves, not all battles are fought in mythical worlds, and Kids Need to Read is grateful for this help in our quest to get books to kids who need them most. Thanks to Knights of the Guild for this awesome donation, and thanks to Felicia Day for spreading the word!

Tis the Season
