Put the KNTR Blog on Your Website

Many of you have been interested in helping to promote this website with more than just banners. Well now you can put the Kids Need to Read blog right on your website with this widget:

The best part is you don’t need to know much about coding. Simply follow these instructions:

  1. Click on the “Get This Widget” link above.
  2. The new page will pop up taking you to SpringWidgets’ website. From this page, you can get our blog widget for your page.
  3. On the left column, there are just two sections you need to look at:
    1. The section that says “Set widget embed size”. Leave it as is for a widget that is 250 pixels wide. If you need something smaller, change the “250” to whatever width you need but if you do that, the top banner image will not work. If you don’t care about the banner, then you can set it to any width you need.
    2. The section that says “Brand URL”. Beneath that is a text box. If you left the widget at 250 pixels, then in that box put this link (copy-and-paste, or type it out) : http://www.kidsneedtoread.org/community/banners/kntrwidgetbanner250.jpg
This will give you the banner image at the top of the widget.
  4. Just below that is a box with different icons. Select the one that represents where you will be placing the widget. The box has icons for MySpace and other social networks. The first one is the one you choose if you have a self-hosted blog – it’ll give you the straight html code.
  5. After you click the appropriate icon, a text box will pop up with the code for the widget. Click in the box and it’ll automatically highlight all of the code. Then copy-and-paste it to where you want it.

That’s all there is to it.

If you have any questions or comments, please leave them in the comments for this post and we’ll do our best to help you out. And also leave us a comment with a link to where you put the blog widget, so we can come check it out.

Thanks to everyone who supports Kids Need to Read! Without you, what we do wouldn’t be possible.

Tis the Season

Once Upon a Time… It was a dark and stormy night… This is the tale that was told to me…: Throughout history, winter has been a season rich in the tradition of storytelling, serving as a captivating blend of entertainment and education for individuals of all ages. This enduring legacy is exemplified in Beowulf, one of the oldest recorded stories, where the narrative opens with a compelling command, “Listen! we have heard of the might of the kings,”. No matter the opening line, the timeless power and importance of story and literacy is in its ability to connect generations and communities through the ages.
