Hailing Frequencies Are Open!

Kids Need to Read Charity Auctions brings you a quality 8×10 color photograph of the multi-talented Nichelle Nichols, who, throughout her long career, has been a singer, song writer, dancer, choreographer, actress, author, producer, space advocate, and even a recruiter for NASA!

The photo is signed by Ms. Nichols, whose career has been filled with remarkable highlights. After singing with Duke Ellington as a teen, she landed her ground-breaking role of Uhura on the original Star Trek. This was one was one of the first times that an African American actress was portrayed in a non-stereotypical role. She broke barriers again when she and William Shatner shared the first interracial kiss on episodic TV. She was also the first African-American to place her handprints in front of Hollywood’s, Mann’s Chinese Theatre. Along with most of the cast, she attended the christening of the first space shuttle, appropriately named Enterprise.
