Sometimes the greatest gifts can come from the most unexpected places. Last year Kids Need to Read received an email from a young man getting ready to celebrate his Bar Mitzvah. For those of you who don’t know, a Bar Mitzvah is a coming of age ceremony in the Jewish religion. For boys this happens at age 13. This very special time is celebrated with the Bar Mitzvah ceremony. Preparing for one’s bar mitzvah often (depending on the child) includes a project which identifies a charitable cause. After much research, Daniel chose a charity that one of his favorite actors (Nathan Fillion) supports, Kids Need to Read.
Daniel included a list of books chosen from the Kids Need to Read Book List in all his announcements. His mother, Debbie, was very proud of how hard he worked. Daniel collected one hundred books for Kids Need to Read. What an amazing gift!
Everyone here at Kids Need to Read loves when people take the time to do a fundraiser or support our cause. However, when a young person does this, we stand up and take special notice. We are very grateful to Daniel and his family for their support, and we can say without a doubt that Daniel is well on his way to becoming a generous and inspiring man.
Thank you, Daniel. We wish you all the best that life has to offer!
