Kids Need to Read is honored to announce the addition of Marketing and PR Coordinator Drew Adams to the organization’s Board of Directors. Adams has been volunteering regularly with Kids Need to Read since 2014, most notably by producing the organization’s monthly e-newsletter and managing the KNTR LinkedIn page. He can often be found volunteering at many of the organization’s fundraising events and literacy programs for children.
Adams is a marketer and content creator with a dexterous background in writing. Currently calling Phoenix home, Adams hails from Tennessee where he attended Middle Tennessee State University and obtained a bachelor’s in English literature and a master’s in education. Between Tennessee and Arizona, he taught English in Japan and lived a short, frigid life in Wisconsin. It was during this time that he also met his wife Claudia, an emergency medicine pediatrician at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, while adventuring in Hong Kong.
Kids Need to Read’s programmatic offerings and literacy-forward mission appealed to Adams as a reader with an interest in educational practices and nonprofit advocacy. He joined the board to help expand KNTR’s ability to provide literacy resources for the kids, families, and communities needing them most. He continues to support KNTR’s marketing and communication operations in a voluntary capacity.
Adams enjoys all forms of storytelling, but favors comic books (or “graphic novels” for semanticists). When he isn’t reading comics, he can be found drinking black coffee, watching bizarre movies, or eating all sorts of delicious food (but mostly brunch) with Claudia.
Kids Need to Read warmly welcomes Mr. Adams to the Board of Directors. His skills will be invaluable as Kids Need to Read continues to help disadvantaged children succeed through literacy.
