Out of Print Supports KNTR to Stock Coffeeville Elementary Library

Without libraries what do we have? We have no past and no future. —Ray Bradbury

For the second year, Out of Print is celebrating National Library Week by helping an elementary school library in need. Partnering with Kids Need to Read, they are committing 10% of all Out of Print online sales to help fully fund a KNTR application from Coffeeville Elementary School to stock its library with new books.

Coffeeville Elementary is a public school located in Coffeeville, Mississippi. The library serves approximately 400 students (grades pre-K through 7th) from households earning at or below the national poverty rate. Fewer than 1, 000 books are stocked on the shelves, and many of these are damaged, worn and missing pages. The school has not had a new book budget for the past two years.

Student teacher Meagin Carver reached out to Kids Need to Read for help because “libraries allow imaginations to run free, introduce us to new experiences, and give access to knowledge and enjoyment.” Ms. Carter wants her school to have a library that inspires and fascinates its students. To do that it first needs proper books and lots of them.

Libraries are made great thanks to the people who run them, and the books and resources that they offer. Please spread the word to help us provide Coffeeville Elementary School with great reading resources for their students and keep checking back with Out of Print’s project page as we get closer to reaching our goal.
