Demon-hunting 101!

The TV show Supernatural is well-made, clever and downright scary! But fans don’t have to be scared of missing a single one of the 22 episodes from the show’s debut season – because the complete Season 1 DVD set is right here at Kids Need to Read Charity Auctions.

This 6-DVD set is a collector’s dream signed by the show’s creator and four of its cast members. The front cover is signed by Eric Kripke (writer, producer and director), Chad Lindberg (Ash) and the versatile actor Frederic Lehne (Yellow-eyed Demon). The inside cover is signed by series stars Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) and Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester). In addition to the DVDs, the package includes Team Winchester stickers, postcards and a Team Winchester hat!

The set’s Extra Features include commentary by Ackles and Padalecki on “Phantom Traveler” and Kripke, director David Nutter and producer Peter Johnson on the pilot episode; two “making-of” documentaries; deleted scenes and a gag reel.

The first season introduced Sam and Dean Winchester, brothers who were raised by their dad to recognize and destroy the creatures of evil. Living separate lives, they are brought back together when a demon attacks a loved one and their father goes missing. The confident Dean and the more thoughtful Sam begin their trek across the U.S. investigating reports of paranormal events and battling vampires, werewolves and things that go bump in the night.

Tis the Season

Once Upon a Time… It was a dark and stormy night… This is the tale that was told to me…: Throughout history, winter has been a season rich in the tradition of storytelling, serving as a captivating blend of entertainment and education for individuals of all ages. This enduring legacy is exemplified in Beowulf, one of the oldest recorded stories, where the narrative opens with a compelling command, “Listen! we have heard of the might of the kings,”. No matter the opening line, the timeless power and importance of story and literacy is in its ability to connect generations and communities through the ages.
