It Would Be HORRIBLE To Miss This One!

Joss Whedon and crew have crafted something totally new in entertainment with the wildly popular Internet miniseries Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, and Kids Need to Read Foundation Auctions has a piece of the fun! 4200 enthusiastic fans attended the Doctor Horrible panel at San Diego Comic-Con in July, but only 100 were lucky enough to get into the autograph session that followed. Call it “crazy random happenstance,” but one of those fortunate few was a Kids Need to Read officer, who has graciously offered this rare collectible for our auction. The item is an 8×10 Lobby Card for the series and boasts a stellar set of autographs – Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, Joss Whedon, Felicia Day, Jed Whedon, Zack Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen!

You don’t need a PhD in Horribleness to know what a tremendous collectible this is! The popularity of Dr. Horrible is only going to increase as the soundtrack and DVD are released. Get into the auction action at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110283096104 ! Bids will be accepted until August 29, 2008.

We extend our sincere thanks to the KNTR officer who donated this exciting item to the Kids Need to Read Foundation. Money raised from these auctions is used to purchase books for under-funded schools and libraries, as well as for organizations that provide books to children.

We are always looking for auction items! If you have something you would like to donate to Kids Need to Read, e-mail Debbie Brown at debbie@kidsneedtoread.org

This enduring legacy is exemplified in Beowulf, one of the oldest recorded stories, where the narrative opens with a compelling command, “Listen! we have heard of the might of the kings,”. No matter the opening line, the timeless power and importance of story and literacy is in its ability to connect generations and communities through the ages.
