Kids Need to Read Booth 459
Author/illustrator Steven Riley will lead daily creative sessions for children of all ages in the Kids Need to Read booth. Children will learn how to create their own stories during this highly entertaining program. After signing a reading pledge, all Build-a-Book participants will receive a Kids Need to Read goodie backpack sponsored by Bookmans, and filled with a Little Ty Cooney hardcover book, magazine, & other goodies. This program is very popular, so be sure to stop by the booth to sign your children up for a spot.

We know Star Wars fans have a Rebellious streak . . . are you ready to test your marksmanship on a servant of the Empire? The Blast-a-Trooper target range arms participants with NERF blasters and pits them against characters from the Star Wars universe! All funds go to Kids Need to Read, so take pride in sticking it to the Empire for a small donation!

Justice League Arizona “Arkham Escape” Interactive Game Benefiting Kids Need to Read
Saturday & Sunday, 2:00 PM–3:00 PM, Justice League Arizona Booth
“Escaped Arkham Asylum inmates” (identified by special badges) will be hunted down by Gotham City heroes and villains, escorted back to the Arkham Cell, and have their mug shots taken with their captors. Play yourself or rat out your friends for a $5 donation to Kids Need to Read. Participants will receive a keepsake Arkham Escape lanyard and an inmate tag. Justice League Arizona booth.

Phoenix Comicon Charity Art Auction Benefiting Kids Need to Read
Booth 465, Exhibitor Hall
The Phoenix Comicon Charity Art Auction features unique one-of-a-kind creations by many guest artists. Pieces will include single artist and multi-artist jam pieces. The auctions will be silent and all proceeds will benefit Kids Need to Read.

Texas Hold ‘Em Charity Poker Tournament Benefiting Kids Need to Read

No Limit Hold ‘Em Celebrity Charity Tournament for Kids Need to Read. Lupine Entertainment will be emceeing and dealing the tournament on Friday night in the Hyatt Phoenix Ballroom. Registration starts at 7:00 PM and the game starts at approximately 8:00 PM. $10 donation. Unlimited chip replenish during first hour for additional donation. Optional add on after first hour. Cash only.

Comicon Movie Night at Chase Field Benefiting Kids Need to Read
Friday, 11:30 PM–Saturday, 2:30 AM, Chase Field
Why not wind down your Geek Night Out after the Kids Need to Read Geek Prom by going to see The Amazing Spider-Man at Chase Field? Due to the generosity of the Arizona Diamondbacks, $5 of every ticket will benefit Kids Need to Read! The stadium opens for Phoenix Comicon guests at 11:30 PM on Friday night, with the movie starting at 12:30 AM on Saturday morning. $20 per person includes entrance on June 6th to the movie screening of The Amazing Spider-Man, one ticket to a D-backs game on August 2nd, and one D-backs Zombie Doll!

From Bullying to Harmony: Understanding and Dealing with Bullying

Please join Denise Gary of Kids Need to Read, Sgt. Darren Burch of Silent Witness, author Tom Leveen (Party, Zero, manicpixiedreamgirl, Random), and Carrie Severson of Severson Sisters as they help families learn to deal with the pervasive menace of bullying. One free copy of Jay McGraw’s Life Strategies for Dealing with Bullies provided to the first 100 families in attendance, courtesy of Kids Need to Read!

Kids Need to Read Presents: How to Write & Draw Riley Style with Steven Riley
Saturday, 4:30 PM–5:30 PM, South Art Room, Events Area
Steven Riley entertains with this interactive exploration of creation, storytelling, and illustration suitable for kids of all ages with active imaginations. Come be a part of the hilarity while experiencing your story springing to life before your eyes!

Youth Fashion Show
Sunday, 11:00 AM–12:30 PM, North Building, Room 229AB
Kids Need to Read Executive Director Denise Gary and Author/Illustrator Steven Riley emcee this fun costume fashion show for children hosted by Knightingirls. Every contestant receives a goodie bag and goes home a winner!
