A DVD Delight from Down Under!

Kids Need to Read Charity Auctions on eBay presents a welcome addition to every collection of Nathan Fillion memorabilia! Nathan’s starring role in the film White Noise 2: The Light won universal praise. The DVD had its world premiere release in Australia, and this is your chance to own it — straight from the Land of Oz (that’s Australia for the uninformed!). Even better, the top of the DVD features Nathan’s signature in bold black ink.

This suspenseful film, more an emotional journey than horror-fest, co-stars Katie Sackhoff of Battlestar Galactica fame. While it has its share of tense and even scary moments, the film builds on the real, on-screen chemistry between the two main characters and leads to a surprisingly touching ending. Once again, Nathan manages to add a subtle touch of humor to his role – try to catch the Firefly reference!

Whether you plan to watch the film or just expand your Nathan collection, this is a unique treasure! (Note: this Australian DVD is encoded for play in regions 2, 3 and 4. Outside of those regions, not all DVD players and computers will be able to play it.)

Bidding begins immediately and opens at $30.00. Please use the following link to place your bid: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110238787050 .  Bids will be accepted until April 4, 2008.

This auction is hosted by Kids Need to Read, the charity project founded by author PJ Haarsma and actor Nathan Fillion. Money raised will be used to purchase children’s books for schools, libraries and literacy programs in need. Our thanks to KNTR supporter Beth for donating this Aussie prize to our auction and to Nathan for taking the time to sign it!

Tis the Season

Once Upon a Time… It was a dark and stormy night… This is the tale that was told to me…: Throughout history, winter has been a season rich in the tradition of storytelling, serving as a captivating blend of entertainment and education for individuals of all ages. This enduring legacy is exemplified in Beowulf, one of the oldest recorded stories, where the narrative opens with a compelling command, “Listen! we have heard of the might of the kings,”. No matter the opening line, the timeless power and importance of story and literacy is in its ability to connect generations and communities through the ages.
