QMx and Tweeps Raise Funds for KNTR

Written by Erin Casey

Quantum Mechanix, a super-cool website devoted to “bring[ing] to life the most beloved objects from your favorite movies and TV series,” recently helped The Kids Need to Read Foundation raise eight hundred dollars in one week!

On Monday, August 17th, through Quantum Mechanix’s Twitter profile (QMxInsider), a tweet went out that read, “TwitterFriend Powers Activate!  We’re hovering just short of 1200 followers.  Can you push us to 1500 by Fri?”  Fellow Twitter user VickyLC replied with an offer to donate £100 (approximately $164.00 US) to a charity of QMxInsider’s choice if this goal was met.  Soon, generous Tweeters were making similar offers, and $800 was raised for that charity – Kids Need to Read!

Nine different people and groups donated.  These are their Twitter user names, so please go look them up and thank them for their generosity!

VickyLC, nodgarb, BenMund, mariancall, patrickcentral, RichardBuckle, numindan, JiminSTLouis, and atxbrowncoats.

For her help in attracting followers and raising money for KNTR, QMxInsider awarded VickyLC a limited edition Inara’s Shuttle Diorama from the television show Firefly and the movie tie-in Serenity.  Kids Need to Read joins QMx in appreciating VickyLC and all the others who were so generous in their donations!
