Giving Credit Where Credit Is Due

– Written by Laura McConnell

It seems to me that nearly all news is bad news. It’s hard for people who do their jobs quietly and steadily to get the recognition they deserve, and organizations that try to make the world a better place rarely garner media attention. But thankfully that’s not always the case, and a recent internet article on suite101 Children’s Books by Michael Jung proves it.

On July 8, 2009, Michael published an article about The Kids Need to Read Foundation. In it, he chronicles the rise of Kids Need to Read from one man’s brainchild to official 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit organization. Along the way, Michael acknowledges the contributions of our founders, PJ Haarsma and Nathan Fillion; our CEO, Denise Gary; and our book list coordinator, Faith Hochhalter. The article can be found here, and if you’re looking for a great summary of the work Kids Need to Read has accomplished so far, it’s a great read.

Thank you, Michael, for caring enough about children’s literacy to acknowledge KNTR with this article and for taking the time to speak with PJ and Denise in planning it. Kids Need to Read appreciates your help in spreading the word about our cause!
