Dec. 24 – Our Huge Year End Holiday Donation!

Kids Need to Read celebrated the holidays in an exciting way by facilitating our largest donation of the year. An enormous pallet of books is on its way to the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library. That’s a whole lot of brand new, shiny books! Katelyn Ramsey, the wonderful, enthusiastic director of the Friends group, was ecstatic! They will distribute the books among the public libraries and schools of New Orleans.

Eight of the 13 public libraries of New Orleans were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. There is no funding for new books beyond what the Friends raise for them, since all resources go toward rebuilding the destroyed libraries. The five remaining public libraries have been sincerely grateful for the new books we have donated to them. Of course, these donations have been possible only because of the contributions of all of you who have given so generously to this organization.

We at Kids Need to Read feel so happy to be able to assist in making this special donation to the libraries and schools of New Orleans. We hope all of you feel equally happy, because this is really YOUR donation. So Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to the citizens of New Orleans, the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library and to all who so kindly support Kids Need to Read.
